A Warrior's Story

What Our Boats Looked Like
In Bremerton, Washington

At this posting, the date was 21 May 2001.  These photographs were take just a few weeks prior by John Close and sent to Gerald "Corny" Cornelison of Archerfish.  Corny scanned, processed, and contributed them to this page.  John Close is on an ocean going tug and passes by the boats here each time he is outbound or inbound.  Some of the boats have the official hull numbers in place while others are spray painted like so much graffity.  Corny says "It sure is a rude and undignified way for these Grand Old Ladies to go out."  I agree.

The following can be identified here:
USS Drum (SSN-677)
USS Whale (SSN-638)
USS Tautog (SSN-639)
USS Richard B. Russell (SSN-687)
USS Lapon (SSN-661) with the "E"

USS Omaha (SSN-692)
USS Cincinatti  (SSN-693)
USS Francis Scott Key (SSBN-657)
USS Mariano G. Vallejo (SSBN-658)

The Following Aerial Shots
Originally Resided On Jim "Red" Lawton's Web Pages

Red had to shut down his website at one point, and asked if I would tranfer
these images to my website. He has since then passed away.
May he rest in peace.
